The Maxwell Building(s) is a place that holds a significant past as the former site of a renowned coffee producer, none other than the Maxwell House Coffee Plant. Established in 1939, the coffee processing plant operated by General Foods Corporation became the largest employer in Hoboken. However, in 1990, most of the production was relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, leading to the eventual closure of the plant. After a period of vacancy, Toll Brothers embarked on a transformative project in 2003, repurposing the former coffee plant location into a highly sought-after condominium community known as Maxwell Place. Part of the historical significance of the plant's location lies in its association with the first organized baseball game, which took place in 1846.
